We believe that everyone is entitled to fair criminal defense—no matter what their financial circumstances.

The sad reality of our system is that more money often equals more justice. Forest Wilkerson and Joshua Mulligan began their careers as Public Defenders and they believe that everyone charged with a crime should get a quality defense. Unfortunately, a quality defense seems to be the exception rather than the norm.

We do take pro bono cases and cases with reduced fees. However, please understand that our capacity is limited. Like any business, we have to pay our employee, rent, taxes, and our large student loan payments – and that is before we can pay ourselves.

Pro bono cases we have taken in the past have usually involved a particularly terrible injustice or extreme vulnerable defendant. We will not take a pro bono case where the defendant has any capacity to pay legal fees.

We will consider reduced fees where there is some ability to pay, but not at the full rate. However, for reduced fees as well the case must be particularly unjust or unusual in some way.
